President's Message

Thank you for visiting us. Project Management Offices (PMOs) now operate in a business-driven era and the PMOs that thrive will be those which achieve a new kind of PMO culture: a culture of accountability, end results achieved, and ongoing knowledge sharing and capability improvement.

This requires a new kind of standardization, one that provides for consistency and flexibility, detailed processes and streamlined paths, methodology guidance and learn-as-you-do techniques, and an ability for all involved in projects to speak a common language, follow a common process, and access a singular set of PMO practices. This requires a PMO content repository.

For many PMOs, developing a PMO content repository is difficult to do well due to limited time, resources, and competing priorities. We provide an alternative to developing your content from scratch. It is called Processes On Demand, a PMO content repository implemented by more than 1,000 organizations to date.

Bernie Keh

Bernie Keh
President & CEO

Ms. Keh is the President & CEO of BOT International. She is Singaporean Chinese and graduated from the National University of Singapore with Honors in 1988. Prior to BOT International, Ms. Keh had executive and management positions with IBM Singapore, Computer Associates Asia Pacific, and Systems Union Asia Pacific. Ms. Keh has managed complex software projects for double byte enablement, translation and national language support, systems integration projects for ERP and financial systems, and product to market projects for Asia Pacific market entry. Ms. Keh architected and managed development for the first version of Processes On Demand which included processes for project management, systems development life cycle, sales and marketing "Go-to-Market", governance, portfolio management, and continuous improvement. Ms. Keh is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, English, and Malay.
Mark Perry

Mark Price Perry
Founder, SVP, Operations

Mr. Perry is the founder of BOT International and is responsible for operations. Mr. Perry is an American and he attended the American College in Paris in 1978/1979 and graduated Beta Gamma Sigma from Virginia Tech in 1981. Prior to founding BOT International, Mr. Perry had a 17 year career with IBM including positions as the IBM AS/400 Division Telecommunications Industry Manager based in New York, the IBM Asia Pacific AS/400 Channels Manager based in Tokyo, and the IBM Asia Pacific AS/400 General Manager for Southeast Asia and South Asia based in Singapore. Following IBM, Mr. Perry was the Vice President and Managing Director of Singapore based Saville Systems Asia Pacific, a leading provider of billing and customer care solutions, and Vice President of Hong Kong based Entrust Greater China, a leading provider of identity management and digital security solutions. As the head of operations, Mr. Perry manages product marketing, R&D, technology integration, and foreign language enablement for Processes On Demand. Mr. Perry has been with BOT International since its inception and has led over twenty Japan/China market entry engagements and has implemented Processes On Demand in more than one hundred project management offices in North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America. Mr. Perry is the author of the books, Business Driven PMO Setup; Practical Insights, Techniques, and Case Examples for Ensuring Success (2009), Business Driven Project Portfolio Management; Conquering the Top 10 Risks that Threaten Success (2011), and Business Driven PMO Success Stories; Across Industries and Around the World (2013). Mr. Perry speaks English and is conversant in Japanese, German, French, and Spanish.

Terry Doerscher

Terry Doerscher
Principal, PPM Practice

Mr. Doerscher is a recognized, world-leading expert in Project Portfolio Management (PPM) and IT Governance with three decades of experience as a practitioner and consultant in strategic planning; PMO management; work and resource management; business process integration; organizational change; and portfolio management. He has advised more than a hundred organizations as a Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) consultant, including McDonalds, John Deere, ADP, Citi, Deutschbank, Wells Fargo, Walgreens, Hallmark, and Exxon. Mr. Doerscher is known for his thought leadership in developing practices aligned to the challenges of modern business, and actively shares his domain expertise through writing, industry presentations and workshops. He is the co-author of Taming Change with Portfolio Management (Durbin & Doerscher, 2010, Greenleaf Book Group), and is a contributing author to several other books, including Mark Price Perry's Business Driven series and the PMI PMOSIG Program Management Handbook. His contemporary work is recognized as a catalyst for redefining the role of the modern corporate PMO. Following submarine service in the US Navy, Mr. Doerscher spent 18 years in the commercial nuclear utility industry, in roles including initial plant testing and operation; outage manager; reliability engineer; project manager and coordinator; program manager; and PMO manager. He then spent 12 years with a leading PPM software provider, as a senior consultant, director of US consulting, and as Chief Process Architect. Terry received his formal engineering education in the US Navy Nuclear Power Program. He is a long-time member of PMI and the Program Management Office Community of Practice; is ITIL v.3 Foundation certified; and is a Certified Process Design Engineer (CPDE). In addition to his work with BOT, Terry is retained by Planview in their Expert-In-Residence program. He is a founding director and member of the board of the Enterprise Management Association – International. Terry is based out of the Austin, Texas area.
Terry Doerscher

Steve Romero

Mr. Romero is a globally recognized IT governance evangelist and IT business value strategist. His mission is to help enterprises realize the full potential of their IT investments for strategic and competitive advantage. He speaks around the world to users, prospective clients, industry organizations and IT luminaries to identify and communicate leading advances in business governance of IT. Romero is an innovative, passionate IT professional with over 30 years of experience working in almost every area of IT. For the past 15 years his career has focused on helping large enterprises transform their IT organizations from cost centers to strategic assets. Steve is a recognized expert in business governance of IT, Project and Portfolio Management (PPM), IT/Business processes, and business process management. He is a Certified Project Management Professional, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, ITIL Foundation Certified, a Certified Process Master, and a Certified Computer Professional. Romero’s extensive technical and IT leadership background started in the US Navy before joining Pacific Bell where he founded numerous ground-breaking governance processes. He then joined Pacific Technology Consulting to establish and lead their Technology Project Management consulting practice. Romero worked at Charles Schwab and the California State Automobile Association where he resumed leading the establishment of formal process management and IT Governance processes. He spent the past 5 years as CA Technologies IT Governance Evangelist and Vice President in their Strategy and Innovation Group. Romero is a member of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and the Project Management Institute (PMI). He is a San Francisco Chapter committee member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), and a Past-President of the Information Technology Service Management Forum (itSMF) San Francisco Local Interest Group. He is a Board Member for the Center for Electronic Business at San Francisco State University, and is a regular guest lecturer in their Master’s Program. He is the author of the CA Press book, “Eliminating ‘Us and Them’ – Making IT and the Business One.”
Robert Bertrand

Principal, Benefits Management Practice

Infamously described by the UK Government CIO as, "the rottweiler of benefits management", Steve Jenner designed, implemented and operated the Portfolio & Benefits Management approach to the multi-agency Criminal Justice IT Portfolio - which has been recognised internationally, in reports to the OECD and European Commission and in a case-study published by Gartner, and which won the 2007 Civil Service Financial Management Award. Steve was subsequently Portfolio Management advisor for the British Cabinet Office as part of the Transformational Government agenda and led benefits management activity for the pan-government Service Transformation programme and research for the OGC PPM Standards Group. Steve is a regular speaker at international conferences, trainer and writer on the subjects of portfolio and benefits management and is co-author of, and Chief Examiner for the UK Cabinet Office's 'Management of Portfolios' guidance. He has presented to the OECD, European Commission and to conferences and training courses in Australia, Japan, Europe and North America. He is the author of several books including, 'Realising Benefits from Government ICT Investment – A fool's errand?' and, 'Transforming Government and Public Services – realizing benefits through Project Portfolio Management'. Steve is also one of the contributing authors of, 'Project Portfolio Management – A View from the Management Trenches'. Most recently he wrote the chapter on Benefits Realisation in a recent international report on Complex Project Management and has recently been appointed as Author and Chief Examiner for APMG-International's new Managing Benefits guidance.
Robert Bertrand

Mr. Bertrand is a Principal in BOT International’s PMO Practice and specializes in Program Management.  Mr. Bertrand is a Canadian National and is a Six Sigma Black Belt.  Mr. Bertrand has over 25 years of project management and process change re-engineering experience within financial services, sales management, education and chemical manufacturing, building solutions and implementing materials management, financial, payroll, educational, project and program management systems.  Mr. Bertrand has large scale Program Management and leadership experience from the Financial Services and Education industries having had responsibility for program management, strategic planning, change management, project prioritization, performance metric linkage, risk and issue management and the creation of a functional Program Management Office while implementing hundreds of successful projects, including several major Six Sigma initiatives. Mr. Bertrand spent 28 years in the chemical business with Allied/Signal and Gentek.  He led a number of quality programs including Business Process Re-engineering, Total Quality Management, Statistical Process Control, and Quality Circles.  Mr. Bertrand is certified as ISO 9002 Auditor, is Professionally Certified in Materials Management and holds a Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University.  Mr. Bertrand is a process management subject matter expert and an ardent student of Juran, Crosby and Deming quality and process management.

Mrs. Bertrand is a Principal in BOT International's PMO Practice and specializes in Program Management within the financial services and non-profit sectors.  Mrs. Bertrand has over 20 years of project management and process change re-engineering experience.  Mrs. Bertrand has extensive Program Management and leadership experience having had responsibility for software development, service oriented architecture, IT Management, program management, change management, risk and issue management and the full scale development of a functional Program Management Office while implementing hundreds of successful projects. Mrs. Bertrand is a graduate cum laude of The University of Mississippi and attended graduate school at The J. Mack Robinson School of Business at Georgia State University.
Susan Bertrand

Mel Bost
Principal, Project Closeout and Lessons Learned Practice

Mr. Bost is a principal in BOT International's PMO Practice and specializes in PMO best practices, project lessons learned, and program management.  He is experienced in all aspects of project and program management, including strategic planning, design thinking, knowledge management, risk management, and business process analysis. Mr. Bost has successfully developed the processes, standards, procedures, and organizational structures for the PMOs of several major corporations. Mr. Bost has worked for a number of large national and international companies including Exterran, ConocoPhillips, Phillips, Tosco, UNOCAL, ARCO, and Ford. Mr. Bost was part of a global merger-transition team that developed business analysis and best practices for a new PMO prior to the merger of Conoco and Phillips. He also led a global team to create a blueprint for implementing a PMO for Duke Energy Field Services and LUKOIL. Mr. Bost has worked with the PMO Executive Council in Washington, DC to define best practices for PMOs, and with the Advisory Board of The University of Arkansas, Walton School of Business, Information Technology Research Institute.  He is the author of the highly regarded blog, “Mel Bost PMO Expert,” which addresses the structure, activities, and behavior of a Program Management Office (PMO) environment, and has also recorded numerous podcasts with Wayne Thompson of "Project Management War Stories". Mr. Bost completed his BS Physics/MS Engineering degrees at Georgia Tech, and his MS Engineering Science and MBA degrees from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Susan Bertrand

Harlan Bridges, PMP
Principal, PMO Practice

Mr. Bridges is a recognized leader in the PMO domain with over three decades of experience in business and project management. Mr. Bridges was a founding partner of DSOI, a consulting firm specializing in project and proposal management, where his fifteen years of project management experience included military weapons and training systems, software and web development, computer systems implementation and technical documentation projects. During this time, his clients included Loral Fairchild, Harris Corporation, the US Army and Navy, Texas Instruments, Digital Equipment Corporation.  Following DSOI, Mr. Bridges joined Compaq Computer Corporation as e-commerce manager for the Internet Products and Services Business Unit where his team won recognition for the web development projects they developed.  After Compaq, Mr. Bridges was a Senior Consultant for the Communications Practice at Mercer HR Consulting, a top five HR consulting firm where he served as the senior web consultant and technical project manager on intranet and web applications projects for Fortune 500 clients. Additionally, he was a member of the PMO implementation team for Mercer. Mr. Bridges has over a decade of PMO setup and PMO process implementation experience and has worked with corporations, government agencies and non-profits to implement PMOs. These efforts have included process development, implementation of portfolio management capabilities, and PMO implementation. Most recently, Mr. Bridges worked with MESSA, a non-profit organization, where he transformed the PMO through the application of business-driven PMO setup techniques and process definition techniques to re-align their PMO to better achieve the project related goals of the organization. Mr. Bridges is a contributing author to Project Pain Reliever (Garrett, 2011) and Business Driven PMO Success Stories – Across Industries and Around the World (Perry 2013) and has conducted presentations and workshops at a number of PMO symposiums, workshops, and events.
Henry Draughon

Henry Draughon
Principal, PMO Practice

Mr. Draughon is a Principal in BOT International’s PMO Practice and specializes in IT infrastructure, PMO architecture, business process analysis, work-flow definition and project, program, and portfolio best practices. Mr. Draughon served in the US Navy from 1972 through 1985 in numerous capacities including Lieutenant, Naval Flight Officer. In 1980, Mr. Draughon joined the IBM Data Processing Division in Dallas, Texas, as a key account manager where he led in the sales and implementations of complex data processing solutions, industry applications, and database systems. Following IBM, Mr. Draughon founded his own company to provide IT management, special projects management, and enterprise network design, implementation, and maintenance services to a wide variety of businesses in the southwest region. In 1997, Mr. Draughon co-founded Florance and Associates Consulting where he led the company in numerous practice areas and engagements including Y2K risk assessment and remediation, IT management services, data center design, application implementation, and network optimization. Mr. Draughon's educational experiences include a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration at St. Peter's College, training in aviation concepts and tactics at the US Navy, information systems and technology training at IBM, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at Webster College. In addition to his professional experiences, Mr. Draughon serves as Disciple Bible Study Program Director at the North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship and his hobbies include golf and physical fitness.
Cornelius Fichtner

Cornelius Fichtner, PMP
Principal, PMO Practice

Mr Fichtner is a senior member of the BOT International Management Team and leads in the PMO Practice. Mr Fichtner is a Swiss National and recognized expert in project management with over two decades of international business experience and over 17 years of PMO and project management experience in such diverse industries as paper mills, management consulting, retail industry, internet software development and the financial industry. He has worked in Switzerland, Germany and the USA where he led projects on overhead value analysis, process improvement in logistics and electronic data interchange, development of a project management center of excellence, establishing internal project management methodologies for PMOs and rewriting overly complex corporate SDLC processes to be implemented in small divisions. He holds a degree as a certified Organizational Planner issued by the Swiss Government as well as the PMI's Project Management Professional Certification. In 2005 he founded ScopeCreep Project Management Consultants and is known around the world as the Host of The Project Management Podcast™ and The Project Management PrepCast™. Mr. Fichtner speaks Swiss German, German, English, French and he is conversant in Italian.
Henry Draughon

Mr. Jones is a Principal in BOT International’s PMO Practice and has more than 20 years of Project Management Office experience both domestic and international. He is a specialist in strategic planning and program management and has worked extensively on large scale, international construction and program management initiatives. Mr. Jones’ professional experiences include: Member of the management council and Dean at the School of Business for the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates; Information Technology Operations Manager, North America, and Business Development Manager for Universal Pegasus; Solutions Project Manager for IBM Global Services; and Quality Control Project Manager with Dresser Corporate - Sperry Sun Industries collaborating with the engineering group to develop and  implement Compliance Health Environment Quality Safety(CHEQS) System. He is a subject matter expert in business process analysis, work-flow re-engineering, and implementing project, program, and portfolio best practices. Additionally, Mr. Jones is a contributing author to research papers in the field of applied Knowledge and Information Management Systems, for the various Shale initiatives considered as an alternative to conventional energy sources through Knowledge Power using Information Triage™ based solutions with Mindsystems Pty Ltd. and Cirilab Inc. Mr. Jones received a Masters of Administration (Education) from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He also holds Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees from York University in Ontario, Canada.
Dave Larson

Mr. Larson is a senior member of the BOT International management team and leads the Sales & Marketing “Go-to-Market” PMO practice.  Mr. Larson is an American and he graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.  Mr. Larson has 30 years of experience in financial controls and information technology management.  He began his career as a professional accountant with the US Steel Corporation where he worked for 8 years in accounting, business planning and management.  In his position as Controller, he led the US Steel Corporation in business planning, financial management, audit, and internal controls, and in the implementation and use of enterprise financial planning and management software.  Due to the success at US Steel, he was recruited by JD Edwards, a leading provider of enterprise financial planning application software, to develop and execute “Go-to-Market” plans and territory sales strategies for applications and services offerings.   In addition to JD Edwards, in the last 17 years, his skills and experiences have spanned from manufacturing industry systems, shop floor control, enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain, financial value chain, procurement, EIPP and enterprise IT.  Prior to BOT International, Mr. Larson held business development, project management and executive positions at US Steel, JD Edwards, Enterprise Planning Systems, Platinum Software, his own company NuMoon Technology, and SSA.  His relationships and selling includes companies, BBA Nonwovens, Scovill Fasteners, KOS Pharmaceuticals, FMC, Rockwell, BOA, SAP, Boeing, EDS, Dell, JC Penny, I2, International Paper, Toyota, Staples, Volvo, BEA.  As the leader of the BOT International he has helped sales organizations more effectively bring products to market improve lead generation, and increase sales conversations.  Mr. Larson also contributed to the BOT International book, “Business Driven PMO Setup” by Mark Perry.  Mr. Larson is a professional accountant, an avid golfer and snow skier.   
Rakan Saraiji

Rakan Saraiji, PMP
Principal, PMO Practice

Mr. Saraiji is a Principal in BOT International's PMO Practice and has years of experience in the IT, project management, and PMO setup and management fields. Mr. Saraiji's PMO setup and management experience includes positions as Director and PMO lead for Dell Services and VP of Project Management and Head of the PMO for SHUAA Capital. As BOT International's Managing Director for the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region, Mr. Saraiji established and managed BOT MENA, developed the company business plan, and consulted with clients in government, financial, healthcare and other sectors on all aspects of PMO setup, management, and enhancement. Mr. Saraiji also organized and conducted three regional tours of multiple executive level workshops on PMO and Project Portfolio Management. Mr. Saraiji graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Sloan School of Management, Entrepreneurship Development Program where he achieved its Executive Education Certification. Also, Mr. Saraiji is a conributing author to the book, Business Driven PMO Setup and Management (Perry, 2009) published by J. Ross Publishing.
Mark Duddy

Managing Director, BOT Europe and ANZSA

Mr. Duddy is the Managing Director of BOT Europe and a Principal in BOT International PMO Practice.  Mr. Duddy is a UK national and is a registered P3O and Change Management Practitioner as well as a PMI certified PMP.  Mark holds a MBA from Warwick Business School in England.  Mark has a raft of successful senior management experience in project, program and portfolio consultancy and delivery gained over a 25 year career working within the Telecoms, IT and Media sectors in and across Europe. Mark started his career as a business analyst / project manager with IT companies such ICL, Datapoint and DEC progressing to Program Director with overall responsibility for the design and delivery of transactional based systems using structured methodologies such as SSADM for public sector customers. In 1990 Mark founded Dialnet Plc, a pioneer in the development of electronic data interchange (EDI) services for the UK public sector and one of first ISPs in the UK. He was also involved in establishing ISPA the UK industry body for ISPs and served as Director of that organization.  At Dialnet Mark was responsible for the delivery of a number major government projects using the PRINCE(2) methodology including the first public sector ‘League Tables’, the introduction of GCSE examinations  and the National Grid for Learning. In 2000 Mark became a Director at Redstone Telecom, a pioneer of local loop unbundling (LLU) in the UK. In 2006 joined UPC Broadband, a pan-european cable operator, with responsibility for delivering a number of major change initiatives including the launch of new Digital TV services, the integration of acquired cable operators across Europe and establishing and managing PMOs in a number of different countries. In 2010 Mark established PMOworks, a knowledge based company based in Dublin, whose aim is to provide PMO best practice to organizations across Europe. PMOworks provides on-going mentoring, coaching, advice, guidance and practical assistance in establishing and re-invigorating PMOs. PMOworks uses OGC methodologies such as P3O for the design of Project, Program and Portfolio offices and P3M3 to undertake organizational maturity assessments. It also offers PMO content through the BOT Process-on-Demand solutions.
